Frankly Anne

What one thing has been pondered, questioned, and investigated since the dawn of man kind? The topic that lies at the center of all? The thing that I, myself, attempt to explain and understand through this blog?
Life.
Only, this time it won't be my thoughts that we are basing discussion on, it will be Anne's. I should warn you, though, she can be quite Frank. (You know, because it's Anne Frank? Bad pun.)

Part 1: Who is Anne?
Anne Frank was a teenage girl with ambition, questions, and dreams. She was a Jew that passed away during World War II in a Nazi concentration camp, after living in hiding for two years in a place known as the "Secret Annex". It was at this point in her life, while her parents, sister, and four others where hiding, that she wrote down her thoughts in a dairy. This diary, named "Kitty", was later discovered and published.

So, now you know the basics of who she is. Now, I have three quotes (Parts 2-4) that I found interesting regarding life......

Part 2: I don't want to name this, I'm too busy being lazy!

"Laziness may appear attractive but work gives satisfaction."
                       -Anne

....Okay, I'm not that lazy, but it got the point across, didn't it?

This quote does not mean:
-Laying down is attractive
-Lazy is the new "in"
-And any other some-what ridiculous meaning

What does it mean then?
It means that even though it's easy to be lazy, and hard to work, in the end, working will do you justice. Just because sitting on my couch, being a *potato, and eating junk all day sounds "fun" or results in minimal work, finding a good paying job, working at it, and making money will be more satisfactory. Couch = bored, overweight, and forever alone. Work = happy, money, **Disneyworld! (or any other cool thing that costs money)

*I just wonder, why a "potato"? What if potatoes work hard and it's the lettuce that's lazy? I'm going to be a couch lettuce from now on.
**I found it interesting that my auto correct does not like "Disneyworld" but it accepts "Disneyland"....I think it has something against Florida

Part 3: You can't stop me!

"People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but it doesn't stop you having your own opinions. Even if people are still very young, they shouldn't be prevented from saying what they think."
                              -Anne

Again, I feel the need to express what this does not mean:
-Talking is appropriate at any time even if people tell me to shut up
-Young people are always right in what they think
-People should speak their minds always

Yeah...sorry, but there is a time and place for things, and sometimes it is appropriate to be quiet.

Anyway, this means that even if people do not listen to you, it should not prevent you from forming an opinion. Opinions are still important. It also states that even the young can be worth listening to. After all, it seems to me that the children of the world keep us focused and sane, even when it seems nearly impossible. Just because they aren't experienced does not mean they are without intelligence and knowledge. Even a person isn't correct, they should speak so that they may learn. If you don't know you're wrong, how will you learn the right?

Part 4: A Lovely Excuse

"The only way to truly know a person is to argue with them. For when they argue in full swing, then they reveal their true character."
                   -Anne

My title is not suggesting that this is false, for it can be very true, but more of a warning. This is not to be used as an excuse to argue with people.

Though I do not believe this to be true in all cases (for we are humans, there are exceptions among us), it is a generally true statement. When you think about it, arguing is when you take a firm stance and speak your true beliefs. Once an argument is in full swing, people tend to let go of any *masks they are wearing. This allows one to see what another is truly like, for in the heat of the moment, it is not easy to control your emotions as to fool someone about your true personality.

To explain in greater detail, how about an analogy? Let's go with.......
**Vulcans!

Vulcans don't have emotion, or at least don't show emotion. Spock is half-human, half-vulcan, though and has emotions. In the latest Star Trek movie, Kirk has to provoke him in order to gain control of the ship. This is when they argue. As they argue, you see Spock's true feelings come out, as he cannot mask them when he is extremely upset (as he was at Kirk).

Understand?

*The mask I am referring to is a sort of false personality. Like someone who is really sad inside but acts happy so people won't see them upset.
**Oh Shnap.

-Conclusion-

Anne Frank was a smart girl, it's too bad she didn't survive longer. We can learn from her still, though. One important thing to learn about is, as always, life.

This has gotta be the Good Life.

Poetry to Save Your Life

Well....I might exaggerate a little on the "save your life" part...

Anyway, today (after much contemplation on what topic I should discuss) I concluded that poetry (a topic that generally expresses life issues [notice the word "generally']) should be my main focus.

So here is my oh-so-drastically-deathly-utterly-uttmost-horrendously-terrifing poetry:

-Refrigerator-

Refrigerator.
It's a refrigerator.
Refrigerator.

-The Free Verse-

This is my poem.
It has no rhymes in it.
There is no point to it either.
But, there is a tangerine in it.
And...an orange.
Because orange rhymes with nothing.
Do you like my poem so far?
The End.

-Poetry to Save Your Life-

Poetry can save your life....maybe
The moral is, don't be crazy.
Sometimes it helps (though, I wouldn't know)
You might just find your way, save the day, so...
Life is a poem (except not!)

Oh, and I've got a joke:

Have you been to the Hokey Pokey Clinic?
They can really help you turn yourself around!
Too bad it costs an arm and a leg....

3 Poems and a Joke
Hurrah for creativity!

PS: I just realized. Orange rhymes with "nothing" but it doesn't rhyme with "anything".Everyone says so.

The Life-Death Proposition

What is life?

1. Life and Death

Life and death are two things eternally entwined. To be living is to be dying and to be dying is to be living. Life is the time before death, and death the time after life. It is impossible to have one without the other, despite the illusion of immortality that so many have conceived. The world was created in cycles, to live you must die, and to die you must live. The main focus of these points is that you cannot have one without the other, unless you had the utmost desire to upset the natural order of the universe.
What can we take from this? There is harmony, you see, between life and death. In living, we as humans are preparing for our deaths. Death gives meaning to life. Every moment, every laugh, every tear is made meaningful because of death. If one was to believe that life would never end, what would become of them? There would be nothing to live for. No reason to laugh, to smile, to love. No motivation to do right by others. All of the things we cherish in life would disappear, fade from our world. So without death, we would have no life.

2. Death is at my Doorstep

-The door flew open, slowly, but forcefully, and he stepped in. Dressed in black robes, draping around him, blocking his body from view. He did not walk, nor run, he just moved. The uneven edges of his worn, black cloak floated around his body, as if a gentle breeze was blowing, and yet it was not windy. His face was hidden from my view, though I had not the desire to see it. In one hand he held a long, ancient scythe, carefully crafted from the oldest of trees and purest of metals. This perfect weapon was both completely terrifying and yet magnificent. His hand stretched out, slowly, but peacefully. There would not be a fight or any force imposed on me. I felt it in the deepest, warmest part of my heart. My mind was in shock, and scared of this figure, but my heart showed me the way. I accepted my fate, for if I was to go it would be in peace. Sometimes the hardest, but correct thing to do is to accept your fate, and that is what I did. I embraced the figure, and felt the most thrilling sensation I have ever felt in my entire existence as I clung to him. I was going to be fine, and I was coming home. -

I suppose one of my favorite was to get a point across is a story. Ultimately, the message is that the man who embraces death as a friend is the one at peace. Death is not to be feared, for it is a gateway to a better life. The eternal life. We must realize this and listen to our hearts, for the heart knows as much as the mind.

3. Mourning

Why do humans mourn death?
Humans mourn for the person, for themselves and for others. Mostly, for the second two on that list, though. Why? If the person is loved so much, we grieve because we miss them. We no longer see then in front of us, and it is sad. Their soul is still with us, however. But sometimes it is just too difficult to realize that, and so we mourn. Losing someone so close to us makes life real, and it is very very scary. We miss having that person physically with us and/or we feel sad for their closer family and friends. This builds together, forming grief on several levels. Our hearts are hurt, someone loved is missing, after all. Our minds hurt, it is hard to comprehend death and give one a new perspective on death. The person as a whole is hurt too. Even knowing that the lost one is off in a better place can do little to comfort people, but eventually it gets better. That, as humans, is the greatest thing we can hope for.

4. What is life?

Life is so many different things. To conceive a satisfactory definition appears to be impossible, but alas, I must give it a try.
Life is the gift of everything in the mortal world given in a period time ending with death.
It is a beautiful, wonderful thing given to us humans.
Even though some days are dark, and downright miserable, it should be cherished. We only have one chance, after all.
If you are ever at the point in which life seems worthless, take a step back and just try to see everything that is there to live for.

We live for love. We live for life.

Stories, carrots, and bouncing cell phones

Today was.....interesting.....
That is what led me to my various peculiar topics of discussion. So, off we go!!!!

1. Stories

Today I had two guys attempt to "explain" to me the origins of the doughnut. This was there story:
In the year 1620, there was a famous pirate named Dunkin da Pirate. He was notorious and feared all across the globe. In the Barbary States, a place he was often found, he relished pastries. He also had a wooden leg. It was on this leg that he stuck his round pastries, creating a whole in the center. After a while people began making the pastries with the whole in the center, and called them "Dunkin Doughnuts". THE END

So....um....yeah......

Someone else decided to explain to me why ferris wheel operators enjoy their jobs. They said that they liked to see little children, excited to be on the ride, be overcome with fear as the ride began to move. Then they laughed as the people freaked out.
Well, I saw a ferris wheel operator, and he was smirking.....

2. Carrots

Have you ever taken a shower and just turned the water's temperature up, resulting in a steaming shower? Well, I do that too. So I was thinking, if you stay long enough in a shower like that, does it make you a vegetable? Like a carrot or something? Because vegetables get steamed....and so do people....kind of......

3. Bouncing cell phones

I wish my cell phone bounced.
Guess who dropped their cell down a flight of stairs today only to have it burst into pieces at the bottom!
(everyone glares at me)
Me? Nah.
.....
Yeah, yeah. Okay, it was me.
But it really only popped the battery out, no breaks.
Still.....
Bouncing cell phones!!!!!!!!
What about jumping cell phones?
Like jumping beans.......

Isn't it annoying when you are typing or writing something and you just forget what........
Oh I don't remember.

Evil Wizard Food

You know how sometimes you cannot, in no way whatsoever, stand a certain type of food?
Yeah, I have issues like this.
Mustard, vinegar, etc....
I'm sure a lot of people do too.
But-get this-I LOVE sea salt and vinegar chips!
I also really like tuna (which, if you make it like I do, has mustard in it).
It's really strange......maybe it has to do with the added flavors or preservatives.....maybe
I mean, I know it isn't just me!
I have friends that HATE HATE HATE tomatoes but like ketchup...
Maybe evil wizards put spells on food items so we can buy it, therefore giving them money.
All about the money....
Oh wizards doing evil for profit....

Anyway, I typed this entire post with my screen upside-down. I could not figure out how to fix it....oops.
(*Facepalm somewhere in the background)

Well:
Peace, love, and
NO!!!! Not the vinegar!!!! I'm melting!
(Just kidding, for now.)

Guess what! LIAP has its own domain name now!
What does that mean?
Well, when you type in the URL, it is "lifeisapineapple.com" or "www.lifeisapineapple.com"!!!!!!!!!
Though, if one forgets and goes back to "lifeisapineapple.blogspot.com" it will redirect them to this address.

So first, I would like to say:

Thanks to everyone who views and reads this blog!
Thanks to everyone who has supported me with kind words and motivation!
And a grand applause to the person who helped me get this domain name!
