Just recently, PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) decided to sue Sea World. Why? According to PETA, the whales kept at Sea World were being kept as slaves. They claimed that the 13th Amendment criminalized slavery, animals included. Their view was that animals feel pain and therefore should be treated as equal to humans in this case. However, the judge dismissed the case. It was brought forth that, at the beginning of the Constitution, it is clearly stated "We the People", thereby exempting animals.

As I was reading these articles (and the first one I found, located in a magazine), I started to develop my own ideas. What about my tree? Is it a slave?
My train of thought:
-PETA wants to free whales.....
-What about all those people in the world suffering? They just focus on whales!
-Whales!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a place!!!!!!!
-Whhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss!!!!!!!! Whale talking time!
-Heyheyheyhey!
-What about trees?
-I got my tree from a store......... O.o
-It was taken from its home as a sapling!!!!!!!!
-.......but it's a tree......
-OMG I'M A HORRIBLE PERSON!!!!!!! KIDNAPPING A TREE!!!!!!!!! AND FORCING IT TO LIVE IN MY SOIL!!!!!!!!!!
-What if it doesn't want to live in my soil???? What if it hates me????? What about the tree's feelings????
-.........oh wait.....it's a tree.......hehehe.....nevermind
...That pretty much sums it up. Point proven.
O.o What about my pet rock?
